Snow White

SNOW WHITE - RUE ODAIR
PRINCE CHARMING - UNDECIDED

What do you think? I was asked to be Snow White in a movie! They put this powder on my skin (covering the tat), and took my second ear piercing out. They also gave me these things that make my eyes brown.
This time, though, I don't have to go anywhere! Their coming to us. Since it will be a wood-y film, they decided it will shoot at District 12.
'Prince Charming' is undecided... I'm too scared to find out who it is! They let it out, but I haven't researched it yet. So yes, I'm in another 'chic-flake'. I love acting, so I can't wait.
They told me who auditioned for Prince Charming {all but one, I wonder who that will be??}:
Matthew Markin
Ian Birth
Alex Crawford
and a few others I don't care to remember. :p
What do you think? The movie will be shown in theaters in Panem {only}, so most of my followers can't watch it.
The posters are being drawn- I show you when they are finished!
P.S. Like my siggy?

Grandparents

Most kids in Panem don't know their grandparents. Once your kids are grown, their gone. Mum, in fact, lost contact with her parents years ago. Okay, she never really had it.
''Kidddsss!'' Mom sings, knocking on doors all around. ''Guesss whosss HEREEE!!!'' ''An Elephant on a banana on a fly on a kite on a chicken,'' Reef answers, groaning. ''Even better. Your grandparents.'' I instantly am awake. ''Where?'' I ask, fumbling for the door knob. ''Downstairs. I made pancakes. I gave you elephants ones, Rue,'' Mom says laughingly. ''MOM!'' I quickly throw on a flower printed dress.

''Here, take this,'' Dad gravely hands me a rusty sword. ''Why---'' I ask. ''Don't ask. I meet Annie's parents.'' ''Don't worry Dad, I have Adolf.'' {Jonathan gave me Adolf as a going away present. Mom had troubles getting him on the plane, but he is worth it. He's very loyal--and cute!} I stick the sword into a flower pot. ''Well, I guess it could also be used as decor,'' Dad mutters.
''Are you Rue?'' Gram asks Reef. Reef's mouth hangs open. ''No, I'm Rue. He's Reef,'' I say, trying to stifle a laugh. Gram turns to me. ''Are you sure? Ladies don't have tattoos. And she or he has a head of hair.'' ''No, Christina, I think this one is Rue,'' Gramp says, pointing at Adolf. ''No, honey, that's a cat.'' Gram says. Oh my, I think. this will be a very long day.
 ''There's something I want to announce. Reef and Rue, you are going to have a little baby brother or sister!!!'' Mom says. ''Oh no,'' Reef mutters, his eyes wide. I think Gramp and Gram got to him.

How Many Rooms?

''Two rooms for you kids, one room for Andrea, one master sweet for Finnick and I---'' Mom muttered counting how many rooms we'd need in our new house. ''One for an elephant,'' I suggest. ''Wha--?'' Mom looked up, bewildered. ''Rue, we can't have an elephant. It'd run lose and rain terror over all the districts.'' ''Okay, bad idea,'' I sigh.
~~~~~~~
''WE'RE HOME!!!! PLEASE BRING US COOKIES!!!'' Reef yells into the Mellarks' house (I guess it's *sorta* our house, too). Mom vanished (to talk to Aunt Katniss about house plans). ''Mom's belly is getting huge,'' Cinna says solemnly. ''Elephants,'' I reply even more solemnly.
~~~~~~
''So we'll need three rooms for the kids---'' Mom says. ''Do you know the gender yet?'' Aunt Katniss whispers. ''No, hopefully soon, though. I'm not going to find out until Finnick's here.'' If my ears could perk up, they would. I had been caught most 'unfortanitly' in the pantry. The door had closed on me, and Aunt Katniss and Mom had walked in. You can only get in or out from the outside... so I was stuck.
''I'm hoping, though, it's a she.''

What do you think? THE ODAIRS ARE HAVING A BABY, WOOT!!! I've got the think of some names.....

Dad, Mom, Reef, and I stayed two days after the Mellarks did.
DAY NO. 1:
Hacking random people's accounts. Swimming. Teasing Nora and Reef about the new 'long-distance-re.'. Being lazy. <3
Day NO. 2 (much more interesting):
''We've decided..... It'd be best if Andrea comes with us. She can stay in the guest house.'' Reef announces at breakfast. ''Andrea would live there. You couldn't call it the guest house anymore. It'd be Andrea's house. And besides, it's really the Mellarks' house. We have no right letting Andrea stay there,'' Mom says. ''I've been thinking about that. We need our own house. There's no room for us anymore, and really with Aunt Katniss's new baby and Dad coming home. We could build a house next to their's or a duplex,'' Reef says decidedly. Mom and Dad have a small conversation. ''So?'' Mom leaves quickly to talk to Aunt Katniss on the phone (yeah, we still use it). ''Next to yours...... stone path.....tire swing......more room for us all.... yeah?.....thanks. Love you. Bye.'' ''Alright. Katniss said yes. As soon as we get home we can start drawing out plans. Kids, start working on your own rooms. Andrea, you can work on your own small cabin,'' Mom says, weary and pale. ''You alright?'' ''Just the normals.''
~~~~~~~
''I have a set of rules for you.'' Jonathan says, handing me a sheet of paper:
RULES FOR RUE
1. NO CHECKING OUT/DATING DISTRICT BOYS.
2. SEND ME LETTERS.
3. DON'T FORGET ME.
''Should I give you rules, too?'' I tease. ''I'll remember them all,'' Jonathan says, playing with my hair. ''What are you doing?'' I ask, laughing. ''I don't know. I just want to make this last forever. Put it in a bottle and take a sip every so often.''
~~~~~~~
''Will you be able to make a long, helicopter ride?'' ''Oh, c'mon. I'm not a baby. You'll be there soon with us.'' ''I worry too much. I just got you back, and now I don't want to lose you.''
(I overheard this. I assume it was with Mom and Dad.)
~~~~~~
A very bad room design:
I'll show a much better drawn picture later.
I Unlike You
''I want to give you something,'' David says. He hands me a small black box. I hadn't dumped him yet, because I was saving it for the perfect moment. I open the box. Laying within the box is a beautiful gold necklace. ''It reminded me of you,'' he says. ''Thanks,'' I say, ''But I won't be needing this.'' I shove it back into his hands. ''Because I unlike you don't cheat on boyfriends/girlfriends. I unlike you don't find myself so vain that I need two boyfriends/girlfriends. I unlike you am walking away now clean.'' And with that I pour both of our sticky Gimaliouz on his head, and shove the single piece of pie onto his face. ''Ta-ta,'' I say cheerfully, walking away with a skip in my step. I barely step away before I hear: ''Rue?! I'm sorry. I was wrong. Please forgive me?'' He begs. I whirl around angrily. ''Yes, David, you were wrong. Am I going to believe you are never going to do this again? No. Because you have proven you are not trustworthy. You must think it's fun breaking backwood District girls' hearts, or else the great, mighty Daivd Paylor-Kayman would never beg to a lowly silly District girl! Have a good day breaking other girls' hearts. I'm glad I'm no longer one of them.'' I spin on my heel and storm back up the hill. Nora was watching all the time, and I proudly fist-bump with her. I'd say I did a good job breaking up with David. ''Got it on tape?'' I ask. ''Wouldn't miss it for the whole world.''
~~~~~~~~
''Yes, David, you were wrong. Am I going to believe you are never going to do this again? No. Because you have proven you are not trustworthy. You must think it's fun breaking backwood District girls' hearts, or else the great, mighty Daivd Paylor-Kayman would never beg to a lowly silly District girl! Have a good day breaking other girls' hearts. I'm glad I'm no longer one of them.''
''This is too good,'' Reef says, laughing. The video of me breaking up with David is now online, and has more than 30,000 hits.
I feel only a tiny weeny bit bad about putting the tape online. But trust me, he deserved it.

Hanging out with Nora and Finch

''I think it's pretty nice.'' Nora said, staring critically at her new ring. ''I don't know what I think of it,'' I answer, staring at Nora's new aqua ring. The single aqua gem was surrounded by smaller white ones. Nora had bought this for herself, as an early birthday present (her parent's are dead--- they couldn't buy her anything).
''What do you want to do?'' Nora asks. ''Lillian wants a new wig.'' I say, trying to hide my giggles. ''Lillian, or Rue?'' ''Both.'' ''Let's find Finch then.''
After stopping at the best ice cream parlor in all of Panem, Nora, Finch, and I crowd down to a small French wig shop. ''I like this one,'' Nora sighs, staring at a long-haired blue wig. ''It'd be fun to dress as an Japanese Anime character,'' I suggest, thinking about all the old shows I'd seen from a different planet/place. ''Alright then,'' Finch says, placing a red haired bob wig on me ''Let's get started.''

''I think I look fab-boo!'' Finch exclaims, styling the 'Katniss Inspired Fire Braid'. ''Perfect,'' Nora agreed, ''Because I'm buying it for you for your birthday!''

''Totally it,'' We all agree, fingering a wig. ''I'll take this,'' I say to the sales women.
''I'll catch up,'' I reassure Nora, just spotting David. ''Ohhh,'' Finch sighs. ''Sure,'' Nora agrees, smiling the secret smile of hers.
''Hey!'' I call to David waving my hands, totally forgetting I was still wearing the wig. ''Who are you?'' David asks, smiling at me blankly. ''Oh, you know me!'' I say laughingly. ''Don't tease.'' ''Oh, yeah I do!'' He suddenly agrees. ''You are the cute blonde girl. Dyed your hair? I like it.'' ''What?'' I ask, smile falling. ''Here's my number. Call me sometime; maybe we could set up a date,'' David says, walking away. ''Wait, don't you have a girlfriend?'' I call, desperately. ''Two. But I'd dump them both for you,'' he says still walking. ''Oh,'' I softly stammer, and a single tear runs down my cheek.
I'm crying softly by the outside pool (alone), and I hear somebody walking up. ''Rue,'' Jonathan's voice says, ''I want to say I'm sorry, and I really like you. I hope you'll forgive me,'' Jonathan says, sounding like somebody who perfectly memorized his words. ''What?'' I ask, looking up with my blurry mascara all over me. ''Wow,''  Jonathan softly whistles. ''Not helpful!'' I sob, tucking my head in with my knees once more. ''Sorry.'' I hear Jonathan plunk down besides me. ''I'd like to get my hands on whoever did this to you.'' ''Boys,'' I sigh/sob. I explain my story to Jonathan (not like he'd understand any of it). ''Why are you crying over such a loser?'' Jonathan asks when I finish. ''You're right,'' I say, wiping up my tears. ''Thanks,'' I hug Jonathan and softly kisses his cheek. ''See you later,'' Jonathan says, red.
To sum my long story up:
-Found out David is a back stabbing lady killing wart faced cheater.
-Found out who I really like is Jonathan.
-Found a wig perfect for Lillian.
-Am going to dump David on his sorry little buttocks very soon.

Cool, determined.... AHHH!!!!

Classy, smooth, smart, impressive, lovable, smiley, happy, sensitive, firm, kind, sweet, beautiful, fierce, fiery, .... Impossible. I can't do it... I'm a failure... I'll never know... my mind insisted, as I pulled on one of Mom's dresses from District 4. Cool but comfortable, the dress was perfect. Thankfully it was water proof, too.

Cool and summery, simple and plain yet beautiful. Anybody who knew Mom would recognize it anywhere.
''Hello, Shirley,'' I greeted Shirley at the desk, this time as myself. ''You're... You're Rue Odair,'' Shirley stammers. ''You know my name!!'' She exclaims. ''Is Mr. Manchkin busy?'' I ask, heart beating wildly with every word. ''No.. no... just go on up...'' ''Thank you,'' I reply, and walk to the lift.
KNOCK, KNOCK!!!! I knock on Mr. Manchkin's door. ''For heaven's sake!!!'' Mr. Manckin says. ''C'mon all ready!'' I slowly open the door, sweating like a District 12 dog. ''No... Rue...'' he says, staring at me. ''You should of never known... it was only for the best...''
''Dad?'' I whispers softly, tears streaming. ''Andrea should of kept you from finding out...''
Oh Finnick...These are probably my picks for Finnick
His head being chomped whole---
Blackouts--
''He died, Annie. I'm so sorry,'' a much younger Katniss Everdeen says. ''NO---'' The heart-breaking wails of Annie Odair.
''You're alive!!!! You kept it from me?!!!!?!!! For that long?!?!''
''I love you, so much, Rue. You've got to understand why I did this. It was better this way,'' Dad explains, hugging me tightly. ''Why?'' I sob ''Why did you do it?'' ''My story goes like this:''
''I didn't die. Whatever Katniss saw, I don't know. I was knocked out, though. I stayed like that until a kind Capitol man found me. He took me into his home, where I stayed, retrieving my memories. I had lost them when being knocked out. When I had gotten all of them, I stayed here, training kids to survive. Andrea was one of those kids. She learned quickly, and brightly. At last I heard you were staying in the Capitol, so I sent Andrea to spy on you and keep you from ever finding out about me. I didn't plan her getting together with Reef, though. Andrea obviously didn't do her job.
''The black outs you have--- I-um- took you away one day to train you. For two whole months, and then you mysteriously appeared on the back porch of your house in District 12, with no memory of what happened but with the skills of a surviving Hunger Games tribute.''
''You didn't do that to Reef?'' ''No.''  ''Dad---'' I say, savoring the word ''will you come back? Everybody else deserves to know you're alive.'' Dad sighs, ''I guess I should, shouldn't I?'' ''Yes,'' I agree, bubbling with excitement. Dad smiles, knowing my happiness.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
''FINNICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!'' Mom screams, practically jumping on Dad. Dad picks her up and whirls her around, kissing her non stop. Dad removed his hair-dye, and now his hair is the natural golden color. ''It's good to see you again,'' Haymitch gruffly exclaims, hugging Dad. Uncle Peeta hugs Dad. Finch and Cinna walk up to Dad. ''Who are you?'' Cinna asks. ''He's your Uncle Finnick,'' Uncle Peeta exclaims as Dad wraps his arms around Finch and Cinna in a hug. At last Aunt Katniss walks in. ''It can't be...'' She says, breathing in deeply, quite pale..... ''FINNICK!'' Aunt Katniss exclaims, hugging Dad really hard. ''What's your story??!!'' We all chant, and Dad begins....
Lillian's Adventures
My first Lillian post! Let's see what happened with my first Lillian Adventure:
Finch, Mom, Nora, and I all agreed Lillian should have a job. Nora pulled out some advertisements from a Capitol Newspaper for me. ''I think this one would pay the best, but you'll have to get interviewed for all of them. I already called them and sent them your thingy I can't remember right now. Your first interview is in 30 minutes,'' Nora said, handing over three small slips of paper. ''Thanks!'' I said, excited. ''I'll drive you over. It'll take 25 minutes, so we might as well get boogin'.''
Nora dropped me off 2 blocks away (because Lillian's new in the Capitol) from the interview building. I could see in looming over me in the colorful Capitol fog. I tried to walk straight and determinedly, but I was a little frightened! The moment I opened the door I bumped into somebody. ''Sorry,'' I mutter. The man waves his hand. He has a hat and sunglasses and a full suit on. I keep on walking. ''Hi, I'm here to be interviewed for the hacking job,'' I tell the lady at the desk. ''You're early! Mr. Manchkin will be delighted. 28th floor, room number 305. Elevators aren't working, you'll have to take the lift.'' My stomach sinks-- Lifts are like elevators, except they are see through, without bars to hold on, super fast, and outside.
Finally getting to the interviewing room, I breath slowly. I knock on the door, holding my breath. ''Come in,'' comes a deep, gruff man's voice. ''I'm here to be interviewed. I'm Lillian Franch,'' I say, opening the door. ''Sit down.'' He orders. He has sun-tanned skin, callouses, black hair, and startling green-aqua eyes... just like mine. ''I understand you taught to hack by family in District 13... Can you tell me more about that?'' He asks. He asks more and more questions until finally: ''Lillian Franch, I think you're perfect for the job. Welcome aboard. Ask Shirley for when to come, and such boring stuff,'' He waves his hand away, just like Reef does. ''Thank you. Good bye... Mr..... Um,'' I stammer. ''Manchkin. Finnick Manchkin.'' ''Mom a fan of the late Finnick Odair?'' I ask causally, heart beating. ''Yeah, huge fan. From District 4. Knew the real Finnick, friend of Annie.''
''Huh;'' and with that I close the door, and possibly said goodbye to my brain, I will never know.
Because I happened to be so stupid I was blind, as well.
Lillian
I'm tired of being known as 'that fish girl'.
Yes, it's true. While I have many Capitol names that's the biggest one. Because I'm not any 'fish' girl. I'm also known as the 'fatherless fish girl'. And I hate it. So, I went shopping with Effie!
This is where you gasp in surprise and ask me if I'm feeling alright. He he, yeah, I am. Effie and I went shopping for clothes.... and a wig! I am now also known as Lillian, a nobody who moved to the Capitol after living in district 13. What do I look like? Nora helped me figure that one out.....
''Perfect,'' Finch proclaimed. She, Effie, Nora, and Mom are the only people who know about Lillian. Lillian had carroty hair, green eyes, and one of those District 13 tracking devices. Of course, my yellow rose wasn't really a tracking device--that'd be silly. Lillian had amazing hacking skills, moved away from District 13 because she hated it, and was very offensive about her carrot hair. Nora and I decided to put powder on my tattoo, and take out one pair of my earrings, to make Lillian different than Rue.
I'm going to start doing a whole thing called 'Lillian's Adventures', where I tell you about her adventures. I had one today, but I'll post it later, he he!
Let's Play!
It was the day after the tea party AND the Memorial Feast (quite a day!), and Finch and I spent the day being lazy. If you ask me, I think we earned our lazy day.
The Avoxs (they get payed now, and they get a choice of where to work) brought us food, fashion magazines, life sized posters of ourselves (he he), and much more.
Finch and I set our life sized posters of ourselves next to the door and hide, hoping somebody would come and start talking to 'us'. Somebody did!
''Rue,'' Mom says, walking outside to the cardboard posters. ''I've been thinking. Finch, you might want to listen to this, too. Wouldn't it be just amazing if you got jobs?! Spend your days earning your own money, feeling the freedom, being free?!'' Mom pauses. ''What do you think?'' Mom impatiently waits for about 2 minutes, probably assuming 'we're' thinking about it. ''So?'' Mom stamps her foot. Mom walks up to the poster and shakes 'my'  shoulders. ''AHH!!'' Mom screams, and falls backwards. ''Hey, um, bye, Mom,'' I say, practically running towards the door with Finch. ''RUEEEEE!!!!!!!!'' ''Ha ha, Mom, we never thought you'd talk about something so,.... serious,'' I say, walking with my back to the door. My hands grasp at the unseen door knob. I press against it, and that's when the doors opened and I fall into something... human-y. ''Oh, sorry,'' I say, not yet turning to look at the person I fell on. ''It's okay,'' says.... says.... stinkin' betrayer Jonathan. ''Oh,'' I say, ''it's you.'' Jonathan laughs. It's hard to hate him when he laughs.... ''Yeah, it's me'' he mocks. ''Want to play tennis?'' ''Fine, but I'm talking Finch with me,'' I answer. ''What?!'' Finch yelps. ''I'm really not in the mood to break a fight,'' she says. ''He'll be out cold before you ever notice,'' I whisper to Finch as we walk unwillingly towards the tennis court.
Jonathan turns out to be.... good. He's making it even harder for me to hate him!!! ''So, are you going out with this David guy?'' Jonathan asks causally. I feel my face (thankfully) turn only a light pink. Finch smirks, and her eyes go all 'I'd like to see this'. ''Does it matter?'' I ask. His face turns light pink!!! Finch smirks yet again. ''No,'' he says, tension showing on his face. ''Good,'' I say, ''Because we have nothing between us.'' ''Good,'' he answers, his face contorted with anger, ''Because I'd hate to go out with a snob like you.'' He walks stiffly away, and Finch answers the obvious:
''I think he likes you.''
Peaceful Tea Party
''Time to clear your mind.''
Nora and I were in a sandy dessert, wind blowing around us; sand getting into the smallest fold of our dresses and stinging our bare arms and faces. Nora flipped out a small box from a hidden pocket in her dress and presses two small buttons on it. It folds out into a small but spacious tent. ''Water and sand resistant,'' Nora nods.
(in case your wondering, Nora put white powder on her tattoo ''It's not very ladylike for a tea party'')
''First Peaceful Tea Party meeting in order!'' Nora shouts. ''Some day we'll add Finch?'' I ask. ''Sure. Time to clear your mind. I'll start,'' Nora says. ''What's been bothering me is---there's this creepy dude who's been following me around. Black hair, blue eyes, light olive skin. Whenever I try to talk to him, he runs away.'' Nora shrugs. ''It feels better having said it out loud.'' ''I'll tell you if I ever see him following you. I'll help you out. What's been bothering me is---Jonathan's being annoying. While I stayed at Golum Manor, we were pretty good friends. He seemed nice, kind, smart, and funny. But I guess I was wrong. When we were dancing at the Memorial Feast, he was being horrible to me. I don't even know what he was talking about!'' I said painfully. It was an open wound--being stung again just by facing the facts out loud. ''It takes a long time to figure out who to trust, and even then they can betray you. If I ever see him, I'll stick close by. Give him a piece of my mind.'' Nora says. ''Thanks. Time for the tea?'' ''Nah,'' Nora says, grinning, ''I hate tea. I brought Gimaliouz. And rose-petal chocolate.''
~Rue
P.S. Gimaliouz is a popular Capitol drink; made with with lemonade and a another gingery drink, mixed with cherry syrup, and with a powder at the bottom (when you shake it it turns into vanilla ice cream--yum!)
Nora/Andrea
''Nora,'' I say, ''you rock''. Nora laughs.
Nora and Reef are official boyfriend/girlfriend, and I couldn't be happier. You know what Nora does for a living? She hacks. I love her already. <3
Nora's sorta like me... she has more than one ear piercing, a tattoo, and red hair. While Mom scowls at her 'sense' of style, I'm in love with her gloves. Nora's also teaching me how to hack. {to explain a few things, companies pay her to try to break into their thingy to make sure it's fool-proof. She's not doing anything bad here}
''I was taught by the master-mind, Finni---'' Nora stops suddenly. ''Um, yeah, Finni taught me,'' she says uneasily. ''Who's Finni?'' I ask, naturally curious. ''A very smart guy. He had some family issues and now devotes his life to training kids to take care of themselves. If you look him up, you'd probably find some stuff about him. He's well known.'' ''Funny,'' I say. ''I hadn't heard of him in till now.'' Nora shrugs. ''Let's try those hacking skills,'' Nora suggests. We start entering password after password into Cinna's computer.
Memorial Feast (2) Part 3
Ohh, my mind was in a simple state of happiness. David---dear David, darling David---snap out of it, my mind told me. David had arrived shortly after Finch, Mom, Aunt Katniss, and I had finished our tea. ''Hi,'' I had stammered. I felt so stupid. ''Rue, could I talk to you alone?'' David asked. Mom sent David a warning glance, but thankfully he hadn't noticed it. ''Sure,'' I stood up and walked three hallways, two rooms, one tennis ball court, and down a small path to a tiny weeny lake with David. ''Perfect,'' he smiled. ''This might seem kinda odd,'' Oh no--I thought. He's going to turn into Spider Man. ''We aren't really supposed to ask anybody to the feast, and your already going, and if you don't want too---'' He sighed and put his hands up in the air. ''I'm being so idiotic. Rue, will you go to the Memorial Feast with me?'' David asked bluntly.
I had accepted--but of course. A semi-date with David; how could I not accept?!?!
David transported with my family, of course. So we couldn't do anything all 'cutesy' (I wouldn't want to, anyway :p).
''Look,'' David and I are standing before the White House, but that's not what he's pointing at. ''Look,'' he says again. This time he slowly takes the back of my head in his hands and turns it. ''That.'' He points to a black warehouse, engulfed in beautiful vines and fruit vines. ''No,'' I mutter. I blindly stumble away from his hands. ''Rue?'' David asks. ''Nooo,'' I wail/moan. I may have not told you this, but I'm prone to black-outs and flash-backs. Fun? No. My knees feel weak, and I know what's coming on.
THUMP!
''It's for your own good, Rue.'' ''Rue!'' I stir. ''It'll help you later on in life, Rue darling.'' ''HELP!'' ''Remember my name. Remember I didn't die. Remember she knows.''
'''RUE!!!!!'' David is shaking my shoulders hard, and everybody is crowded around me. Aunt Katniss is shouting '' 'give the pregnant lady some space!' '' and trying to rush to my aid. ''Can you walk?'' My knees feel as weak as Jell-O. I shake my head, 'no'. ''Oaky-doky.'' David picks me up, and starts carrying me towards the Memorial Feast building (yes--it has it's own building!). If I hadn't been in a recent black-out just then, I would of thought it romantic. :)
David gently lays me down on a small red velvet couch, located in the front of the building. I wish I was alone. ''David,'' Mom whispers, ''Why don't you stay with your mom for a while? Reef will find you when Rue's ready.'' David looks at me one last, pitiful time and walks away, who knows where. ''Cinna, Reef, Peeta, OUT!'' Mom's voice turns brisk. ''Hey--'' Reef begins. ''OUT!!'' They sheepishly walk away. ''Much better.''
I am pampered, checked for bleeding (when I fell), and told to sip on mint tea. ''If Rue's okay, let's go to the Memorial Feast,'' Finch suggests. ''I feel fine,'' I agree, sitting up straighter to prove my point. ''All right, but take it slow. Don't dance if you don't feel fine,'' Mom glances worriedly at me. ''I'll be fine,'' I sigh, and we start making our way to the Memorial Feast Dining Room.
Mom stays by my side throughout the whole meal. Many dancing cards are being passed out, and a few people ask for mine. I place my name on Finch's card, and Finch places her's on mine. Reef places his name on many Capitol girls' cards.
Just as dessert is being served, a hear a voice I recognize: ''May I see your dancing card?'' I look up. Jonathan! ''Of course,'' I say coolly, not feeling cool at all.
The dance with David painfully finishes (Finch is looking pretty sad, too---her dance with Niall ended). Jonathan walks over and takes my hand. ''You know,'' he says, ''Mammy hand sewed all those gems on your gown.'' ''Are you suggesting I didn't thank her for it? I know what lengths she took for it, and I am very grateful,'' I coldly say. I feel terrible---for the time I stayed at Golum Manor Jonathan and I were good chums. ''I just want to remind you that you have things to live for. People think high of you, and don't let Mammy down. The news could break her,'' Jonathan states. The nerve of him! ''Good day,'' I say, and walk away, leaving Jonathan stranded in the sea of dancers. When I'm out of sight, I start to run. I find an empty parlor and tuck my knees up to my chest, crying. ''I hate him!'' I sob. ''Who?'' David asks gently, slipping into the parlor and sitting next to me. ''I don't even know!'' I sob louder, leaning against David. Suddenly the door opens and Reef and a red-haired Capitol girl step in, kissing. Eww. The other door opens, and theres Mom, with her mouth open. Reef and the Capitol girl (I named her Nora) step apart. ''Rue,'' Reef says. ''MOM!'' He yelps. ''Reef,'' Mom sternly says. ''Um, Mom, meet Andrea,'' he waves a hand towards Nora.
Nora/Andrea and David are sent away, Reef is spanked, and I am deeply questioned for my crying.
So maybe today wasn't a totally success, but it wasn't half bad either. :)
A very tired and perhaps unstable,
Memorial Feast (2) Part 2
Mom and I are both running towards the sound. Quickly the screaming stopped, followed by the sounds of crying and shouting. What was happening? I wondered to myself. Then it all stopped, followed shortly by the low sounds of talking. Niall is walking towards us, waving his hands. ''Hey. Mrs. Mellark and Finch are in the Ladies' Bathroom. Mrs. Mellark fainted and then Mr. Mellark had an 'episode'. Bye,'' Niall walks away. ''That was brief,'' Mom mutters. We start running again, this time towards the bathroom. ''Is everything all right?'' Mom nearly shouts the moment I open the door. ''Yea, I just fainted for a tad bit. Nothing wrong here,'' Aunt Katniss is very pale, and Mom notices this. ''For a tad bit. Katniss, I've known you for a long time, and in the postion you are in now you aren't lying very well,'' Mom gives her stern 'obey-me-young-lady' look. ''Now, I am going to make you some tea, and you are going to drink all of it!'' Mom walks away.
Finch quickly explains all that happened while helping Aunt Katniss. ''Niall and your dad went into the girls' bathroom?'' I ask, giggling. Finch giggles. Together we help prepare Aunt Katniss for the feast, and by the time we are done Mom walks in, carrying four cups of steaming mint tea. We walk over to a parlor and sip our tea, laughing and talking.
